Expressions of the Divine
The word “deserve” causes immeasurable pain…A social-superstitious creed suggests bad things should only happen to bad people. Human logic suggests that if they are good they will be protected from undeserved sufferings. Divine logic is not like this. Pain and pleasure, suffering and abundance are two sides of the coin of life experience. The divine asks you to learn through your life experiences…All sides of life are expressions of the divine; the unjust side tests our capacity to trust in a wisdom greater than our own. Carolyn Myss, Entering the Castle P.154
In this book, Entering the Castle, the author guides us through Soul work. As I read what she had to say, I noted my Soul work and guidance in a journal.
After reading the words quoted above, I wrote, “I ask my soul for guidance in understanding the gifts within any tragedies or crises that arise in my life. I pray for grace to wait and receive God’s direction.”
We have to search out what we think of as tragedies or crises in our life. What is it that you see as unfair or unjust in your life? I, personally, have seen as unfair in my life the fact that I never seem to win any contests to which I send in my work. This has caused me to give up on sending in my work to any advertised contests—I feel as if it is a waste of my time. Not winning contests, however, can hardly be called tragedies or crises. I have had difficulties such as illness in my life but these I seem better able to cope with than the more trivial things like not winning contests.
I ask my soul to help me understand the gifts that are given to me through these experiences that I see as failures. What can I learn through these life experiences?
What are the tragedies, crises, or unfair happenings in your life? Can you see the gifts from God in these experiences? Can you wait on God for grace and guidance to receive the gifts that come from God in all circumstances whether good or bad?
