Judith reads:
Waiting and Watching for God
Joyful are those who listen to [Wisdom], watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favour from the Lord. Prov 8:34-35
All things come to us in God’s time and that time is made possible when we sit peacefully waiting and watching for God at Wisdom’s gates, opening the door of our hearts to the Lord. When we open the door of our hearts we begin to understand the depth and breadth of God’s love for us and the lengths to which God will go to bless us with grace and generosity. P. 103, Highway of Holiness: Soul Journey, Judith Lawrence
Taking the time each day to sit at Wisdom’s gates, and open the door of our hearts to God, brings us gifts of peace, joy, and love that we might otherwise never know.
It is so easy to forego this time of quiet with God each morning, the opportunity to read and meditate on God’s Word, and to pray for God’s earth and people. So many things present themselves to us each day and time with God can easily be forgotten, bypassed, or frittered away.
If we are to find new life and receive favour from the Lord it is important to renew our commitment to wait patiently at the gates of Wisdom and find the new depths that God has to offer.
