Percy and his Suitcase
Percy the cat came to visit. He liked it here and he visited often. Percy liked us and we liked Percy.
One day, Percy said, I like it here and I’d like to stay.
We said to Percy, You may.
Percy has a little suitcase, which he carries around his neck.
Inside the suitcase are many special things.
He has a bow, which he likes to wear on his birthday. It is red with white polka dots. Now, you may know that cats have a birthday every 42 days. You may not have thought about this before. But when you remember that a cat’s life has 7 years for every 1 of our years, you will be able to work it out that a cat’s year is 42 days.
So that special bow of red and white gets used quite often and each time Percy uses his bow he washes it and irons it and puts it back in his suitcase.
Percy has another bow that he brings out each December at Christmas time. This bow is green and has a little bell. It looks good on Percy and sounds very jolly when he runs around the house. It’s quite in keeping with the happy Christmas season.
There are other things inside Percy’s suitcase, too. There are 4 little mittens for his feet. He uses them when it gets cold. Each mitten is a different colour from the others. He has 1 white mitten, 1 black mitten, 1 yellow mitten and 1 orange mitten. He doesn’t always put them on the same feet each time he wears them—it depends upon his mood and what he wants to dream about when he has his naps.
Percy has other things in his suitcase.
Can you guess what they are?
What would you put in your suitcase if you had one?
